It’s What’s In the Mix Wednesday!
What’s in the Mix? Blending Ideas and Prompts is a weekly exercise designed to spark your imagination and get your creative juices flowing. Each week you’ll find a question, a suggestion or a prompt that will help you identify where you’re stuck, where you are flowing and where you need more education. Mostly, prompts are just fun!
About This Week’s Prompt: Mother’s Day can be such a special day of the year. The memories and appreciation we have for our mother’s can be some of the most precious thoughts we have. Also, Mothers can come in many forms, like the neighbor who nurtured and fed me through post-partum depression when I was overseas and my own Mom couldn’t be there. Or maybe there is a girlfriend who knows just when you need a hug or the old woman who always gave you a free candy when you visited Woolworths as a child (really dating myself!).
Our sense of smell is a great way to remind ourselves of memories from our childhood or later in life. What aromatics remind you of your own Mother?
Share your answer in the comment section below! Let’s inspire each other! By leaving your creative ideas in the Comments sections you might give someone a great idea for a listing blend, and someone might give YOU a great idea. Who knows, maybe you’ll become inspired to create a new product or an entire product line from something that is sparked by this exercise.
Do you have a place to keep all your blend recipes?
If not, consider My Book of Blends.
I created it for myself and realized so many other aromatherapists could use such a book. With over 150 pages to name, rate, make detailed notes, list out number of drops used and carrier oils used in your recipes, this book is the perfect place to keep them safe all in one, easy to use space. It makes a great gift with the holiday season, too!
The smell of chocolate chip cookies baking and pancakes on a Sunday morning–those are the smells that remind me of my mom.
I miss my mom today, Mother’s Day. There is no one like your mom
Hi Marni! Awwww I miss my Mom too and yes, I there is no one like Mom. It was great having you in class for the Aromatherapy Teacher Training, and I can’t wait to watch where teaching takes you! Hugs, Liz
