I always love citrus oils, but I’m especially drawn to them this time of year to uplift my mood and boost immunity!
When the weather changes from warm summer to cool fall to bitter winter, I’m never really ready. I’m a sunshine-loving gal so as the days darken and get cold, I pull out all my citrus essential oils! Their bright and uplifting properties really speak to my soul this time of year and they never fail to raise my spirits! The citrus essential oils are also high in a chemical component called d-limonene which is a terrific immune-boosting property!
I diffuse them, I make cleaning products with them, I add them to my hand and body soap and other body care products.
When I leave the house, I turn on my cool mist diffuser and let it run while I’m gone. It has an auto shut-off function, for safety. When I return home, I am greeted with an aromatic delight as I step in the house and it smells amazing!
Here are three of my favorite citrus recipes that lift my spirits and boost immunity in winter.
1. Let the Sun In Diffuser Blend 5 drops Sweet Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis) 5 drops Bergamot essential oil (Citrus bergamia) 3 drops Grapefruit essential oil (Citrus paradisi) Note: Get a Diffuser with Auto Shut-off Function if you leave it running while you’re not home. |
2. Lemon-Lime Spray for Cleaning Glass Tables, Windows and Tile 8 oz (240 ml) reusable glass spray bottle 1 teaspoon white vinegar or cleaning vinegar 40 drops Lemon essential oil (Citrus limon) 40 drops Lime essential oil (Citrus aurantifolia) Directions: Fill the spray bottle with water, add the vinegar and essential oils, and you’re good to go! |
3. Orange Coconut Salt Scrub 4 oz (120 ml) PET Plastic Jar with lid and labels 3 oz (84 gm) pink Himalayan salt (or any coarse salt you like) 1/2 oz (15 ml) organic, cold-pressed Jojoba Oil 1/2 oz (14 gm) organic Coconut Oil 20 drops Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis) Directions: Mix all ingredients into the salts with a spoon. Adjust the scrub to your preference – more salt for a dryer scrub, less salt for a wetter scrub. To Use: Use a small handful as a scrub for your body during your shower. Rinse off. I leave my scrub right in the shower for easy access. After my shower, my skin feels clean and moisturized by the salt and oils. Note: The jar can get slippery, so I don’t advise using a glass container. |
I love all the citrus oils!
They boost immunity, uplift the spirit and are refreshing!
