What’s in the Mix? Blending Ideas and Prompts is a weekly exercise designed to spark your imagination and get your creative juices flowing. Each week you’ll find a question, a suggestion or a prompt that will help you identify where you’re stuck, where you are flowing and where you need more education. Mostly, prompts are just fun!
About This Week’s Prompt: Where are you on your journey of essential oil blending? Do you have so many ideas you don’t know where to begin? Or are you a bit nervous to try more mixing on your own? Improving your blending skills can be exciting and daunting at the same time. I’d love to help if you have questions or a certain recipe has you stuck.
Share your answer in the Comment section below! Let’s inspire each other! By sharing your questions and challenges I learn more about where you are with your blending skills and see where I can help. Your comments can give me an idea for a new podcast episode or a blog post with a helpful infographic so you can better understand concepts, blending dilutions, and anything else you are challenged by.
It’s not always easy for me to create a blend that works well AND smells good. Any tips you have on blending by fragrance is appreciated!
I recently began making my own blends after reading and using others suggestions. It’s a blast. I find the blend changes after I have made it and need to adjust the amounts sometimes. I find it a bit tricky to get that perfect blend that allows all the scents to emerge. I use the essential oils that I like but I am experimenting more with base/middle/top notes and categories, i.e. All roots, all leaves, all conifers, all citrus. My favorites so far are yarrow, rose and blood orange and cardamon and blood orange…Yeah I really like that blood orange!! 🙂
