BridalShowerAromatherapy

My good friend Roseanne contacted me recently asking for an aromatherapy idea for her daughter Katie’s bridal shower.   Katie loves aromas and wanted to offer  something fun and different for the girls to experience at her shower.   After much discussion, Roseanne and I came up with an idea and I liked it so much I wanted to share it here with you!

At the shower, there will be a table called “The Healthy Scents Spray Station”.   At this table there will be bottles pre-filled with distilled water, several bottles of essential oils and recipe cards.  The girls pick up a spray bottle, find a recipe they like and create their own aromatherapy mist.  Doesn’t that sound like fun?

In choosing the essential oils for this project, I went with affordable, versatile and safe. Below is a copy of the instructions I sent to my friend Roseanne to help her set up the table:

Healthy Scents Spray Station Supplies

  • Distilled water – How much? Easy math!  2 oz water X number of bottles = total water needed.  1 gallon has 128 oz.
  • 2 oz plastic misting bottles – 1 per girl plus a couple of extras in case you get a bottle with a faulty nozzle or something breaks.  You can find these online OR at any box store like Target or Kmart (if you buy at a box store, you can return extras or any that don’t work).
  •
Essential Oils (see recommended oils below). You can buy these at the health food store or at PompeiiOrganics.com (if you subscribe to my newsletter you get a 15% discount)
  •
Large Index Cards for writing out the blends
  •
Peel off labels – for the girls to write the name of their blend, the oils used and the date. Return address labels are great for this and you can keep extras for home.
  • Explicit instructions!

I would suggest only 2 suggested recipes per “action” as too much information gets confusing. They might want to play and create their own blends and I would let that be okay. The object is to have fun. I have chosen all oils that are gentle and safe. Just be mindful that for every 2 oz bottle, no more than 15 drops TOTAL essential oil. They need to keep the oils out of their eyes or it will irritate and be very uncomfortable.  Prefill the bottles and leave them at the table and the girls will just choose a bottle and create their scent.
