What’s in the Mix: Blending Ideas and Prompts is a weekly exercise designed to spark your imagination and get your creative juices flowing. Each week you’ll find a question or a suggestion that will help you identify where you’re stuck, where you are flowing and where you need more education. Mostly, prompts are just fun!
About This Week’s Blending Prompt: This week let’s talk about L-O-V-E in preparation for Valentine’s Day. There are many kinds of love: self-love, spouse-love, family-love, puppy-love, it-didn’t-work-out-but-I-grew-from-being-with-you love. What aromatic blend would you create in honor of a special love in your life? And yes, you can make it for yourself!
Share your answer in the comment section below so others can become inspired by your blend and you can be inspired by others. Who knows, maybe you’ll become inspired to create a new product or an entire product line from something that is sparked by this exercise!
My favorite romantic bath blend for me involves making a stock blend of Rose Maroc, Patchouli and Vetiver. It is very exotic and I like it in a candle light bath with Lorena McKennitt playing. Maybe I’ll call it m Arabian Nights Aromatherapy Bath Blend. SarahB
Sarah, wow! You really have a talent for creating exotic blends. I feel like I need to run to my blending table to create this just so I can experience it. Rose Maroc, Patchouli and Vetiver sounds like it could even be a perfume. Arabian Nights? PERFECT! Thank so much for showing up here on the blog Sarah. I was really hoping you would. I love what you share!
Another blend that men seem to like in a massage oil is Black Pepper and Jasmine. I’ll call this one Spicy Jazz.
Sarah, I have to admit, I wouldn’t have thought to blend Black Pepper and Jasmine, but really why not? After all, one of my personal fav combinations is Clove and Rose absolute. As for that name, “Spicy Jazz” …girl, you have a gift for naming your products!
NOTE: Just to be clear for those who don’t know, Sarah is a massage therapist and is referring to a professional, therapeutic massage. These oils would be great for muscle warming and relaxation, but NOT for a romantic partner massage. Black Pepper will be too spicy for the “nether-regions”. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next week Sarah!
