I was asked by Liz to share one of my favorite essential oil recipes. This Sports Recovery Bath Recipe is used over and over again in my home as a favorite way to soothe and relax tight, sore muscles. The high mineral content of the salt combines with an amazing essential oil blend to work wonders on tight, sore muscles. I go a little light on the chamomile because this powerful aroma sometimes overtakes the other oils, and I really like to smell my frankincense!

Sports Recovery Bath Recipe
1/2 cup pink Himalayan bath salt
6-8 drops Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia)
6 drops Frankincense (Boswellia carterii)
6 drops Spike Lavender
 (Lavendula latifolia)
3-4 drop Roman Chamomile
 (Chamaemelum nobile)

 


Why this blend? I tend to go a little hard at the gym, and there were times many years ago when a tough gym workout would make me so sore I would have to skip a few days. For a gym rat like me, that was very frustrating. I’d always taken salt baths, but it was not until I seriously studied aromatherapy that I learned how to layer the oils with the salts for maximum effectiveness.


Additionally, I have two sons who play lacrosse, and there are days they walk in the house extremely sore and worn out. The first thing they ask for is one of my “recovery baths”!  I can actually see the relief they feel after they spend 15-20 minutes with this warm bath.
